I nomally don't make personnal posts, but this is an exception in hopes that it could warn/help at least one of you. I even took a day off the job today, because I'm too depressed.
I won't be able to make icons (or banners for my communities) for a while. It's not that I don't want to, I just got a very evil computer virus. I only keep Windows and my programs on the C drive, so it's never a big deal when it just attack my C. That damn virus left my C alone, and totally erased my D and E hardrives where I kept everything! I lost years and years of pictures (family and fandoms related) icons, textures, music, e-books, fanfics, etc. I stupidly thought they were all safe there, and stopped making back-ups in 2007 :(
So if any of you are like me, think again. Recordable CDs and DVDs barely cost a thing (and I have a tons of both, damnit!) so you should really make back-ups, or you will most likely regret it. A lot. I'm gonna go die now, and I hope to bealive back in January.
Well, I'll still leave comments on your entries, but I'm just glad that almost all the Icontests Communities that I Maintain will be on hiatus for the Holidays. I'll be in "downloading mode" for a while...

Il n'y a vraiment aucune chance de retrouver tes photos quelques part?? :/ C'est vraiment poche tout ça! *HUGS* Entk, bon courage!!

Moi je ne vais pas re-sauvegarder chaque photos promotionnelles des films de HP ou de mes autres fandoms comme TVD, ce serait beaucoup trop long. Re-télécharger des screencaps de films ou d'émission c'est moins décourageant et moins long.
Au moins je sais que tu comprends ce que je c'est de tout perdre. *hugs back*

(une vient d'avoir un bébé) Je veut un TimeTurner maudit...

It toally sucks - my daughters ipad froze on her and she lost a lot of pics on a puppy that we lost....I don't download anymore graphics because of it, mainly use the teasers or previews and crop them up.....and I stay away from certain websites.
it does get bett...but TOTALLY SUCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm so paranoid about losing my stuff I've collected in years, that I made backups not only on CD-s but even on a DVD for all of my fandom related things since 2002. My family pictures are saved also on CD-s. My computer had already broken down once however I've managed to save almost everything included my favourite links.
I could just agree with you on making backups is severely advisable.
