I usually simply set my Light Textures to Screen 100% but sometimes, I set them to Soft Light, Multiply or Exclusion. Maybe you could find some tutorials online, I normally don't look at tutorials, I do my stuff with trials & awesome accidents... lol

And you're lucky, I kept a .psp file for both icons (I rarely do that) so I'll post a Tutorial for you in an hour or two :)
